About Bau Couture

Bau Couture was born from love — for our dogs, for handcrafted quality, and for the unbreakable bond we share with them.

The name Bau Couture comes from “Bau Bau,” the Italian way of saying a dog barks. It reminded me of the energy, presence, and personality every dog brings to our lives. Like us humans, each dog has their own personality, and each personality has its own fashion style.

Our Beginning

After sharing life with many different dogs over the years, one thing became impossible to ignore: many dog products are simply not designed with true comfort in mind.

Collars made from materials that irritate the skin. Knitwear that looks appealing but fails to keep a dog warm. Accessories that prioritize appearance while overlooking how a dog actually moves, rests, and lives.

Out of that awareness, a desire grew — to do things differently.

I am Italian and have been living my whole life in the North of Italy. With the country’s history being the centre of fashion and couture, it felt only natural to start Bau Couture here, doing it myself. I set up an atelier and began experimenting. As more people discovered my work, I started creating pieces for various retail stores.

But ten years later, and having learnt a lot along the way, I finally feel it is time to show the world my creations. For that reason I started baucouture.it. And this makes me so proud. I genuinely hope that each one of you will feel the same about this brand as I do.

At Bau Couture, a dog’s comfort always comes first. But we also believe that the things you carry and wear for your dog should feel good for you too.

A carrier shouldn’t feel heavy or awkward, but like a beautiful bag you’d choose even without your dog inside. Accessories should fit effortlessly into your home, your wardrobe, and your daily life. 

That balance — between function, comfort, and style — is at the heart of everything we make.

Every Bau Couture piece is made to order in my atelier.

This allows me to work slowly and intentionally, avoid unnecessary waste, and create pieces that feel truly personal. Whether it’s a custom size, a specific material, or a special idea you have in mind — almost anything is possible.
